Mo Salah has declared this season to be his “final year” at Liverpool, mentioning that “no one has approached me” regarding his expiring contract.
Following Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League, where Salah contributed to all three goals, the forward stated: “After a refreshing summer and considerable time for reflection, I’m staying positive, knowing it’s my final year with the club.

“My focus is on enjoying the game and not dwelling on the future. I feel liberated to play football, and what happens next year will unfold in due time.”
Contrastingly, Sky Sports analyst Jamie Carragher has speculated that Salah may remain: “I would be very surprised if Salah isn’t part of Liverpool next season,” he commented.
Salah assisted Luis Diaz twice before netting a third goal, effectively quieting Old Trafford on Super Sunday, and seemingly affirming his departure from Liverpool at the season’s end during a post-match interview.

He elaborated, “Approaching the game, I considered that it might be my final appearance [in Liverpool colors].
“Nobody from the club has discussed contract matters with me, so I’m approaching this as my final season and will see what unfolds when it concludes.
“As of now, we’re uncertain about which club I’ll be with, but yes, this could be my last outing for Liverpool. It’s not in my hands, but no one has approached me regarding a new contract with the club. We’ll just have to wait and see.”
Salah, whose contract is set to expire next July, joined Anfield in the summer of 2017 after transferring from Roma for a record fee at the time.
Liverpool declined a verbal proposal over £100m from Saudi Pro League team Al Ittihad for Salah during the closing of the summer transfer window in 2023.
At that juncture, Salah had no desire to depart from Merseyside. The Egyptian international will turn 33 the following June.
Slot wants to enjoy Salah’s talents for as long as possible
Arne Slot hopes to enjoy Mohamed Salah’s talents for as long as possible after the Egyptian scored one and assisted two goals in Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over rivals Manchester United.
When questioned about Salah’s remarks, Slot stated, “There are many ‘ifs’. Currently, he is with us, and I am very pleased that he is, especially since he performed exceptionally well.
“I refrain from discussing players’ contracts, but I could spend hours discussing Mo’s performance today.”
Will Salah depart from Liverpool next summer? Sky Sports pundits weigh in.
Jamie Carragher: “I believe Mo Salah, much like Ronaldo, is fixated on records and longevity. Most believe that once you hit 35, your football career is over. However, considering how well he takes care of himself, I think he plans to play until his late 30s, if not 40.
“I don’t foresee a move to Saudi Arabia next season. He’s simply too valuable. He competes in the world’s top league for one of the most renowned clubs.
“Whether it’s next season or the one after, he ranks with Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard as one of Liverpool’s greatest. He may well be the Premier League’s finest winger, despite not having as many medals as some others.

“Obviously, you strive to retain him. It’s not just about the money; it’s about future contributions.
“As you reach your mid-30s, you can’t perform as you once did – but he might be an exception. Liverpool certainly wants to keep both him and Virgil van Dijk, but it will likely come down to wages. The question is whether they will command the same salaries in two or three years as they do now.
“I’d be quite surprised if Salah isn’t at Liverpool next season because I suspect he wants to surpass every club record.”

Mohamed Salah piles pressure on Liverpool over future – but do they want him?
“Salah has yet to consider other clubs, believing he has many years left at the top. He aims to compete for major titles, making offers from Saudi Arabia currently unappealing.
Salah’s stance is that Liverpool should initiate contract negotiations, as he feels it’s not his responsibility to do so.
The absence of any discussions or draft proposals for Salah to review is a notable point.
The club’s current silence may indicate their willingness to let him go for free after seven seasons of exceptional performance.
Finding a replacement for Salah in today’s market would be extremely challenging.
This is compounded by the fact that Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also approaching the end of their contracts.
Liverpool faces a significant amount of work ahead.”
Roy Keane: “Salah has control over his contract situation. While clubs often let contracts of players over 30 expire, Salah will make his own decision.
The club must offer him a contract since he is a key player. In essence, Salah will have numerous options.”
Daniel Sturridge: “It would be surprising if they let him leave. Salah has accomplished nearly everything possible at the club and seems very content.
His recent comments suggest a desire to stay, contingent on the club meeting his terms. It’s my sincere hope he remains, as his contributions have been outstanding.”
